About Our Collection
Our collection is the foundation of the museum as we strive to protect and share Alberta's sports history. The Alberta Sports Hall of Fame houses over 15,000 artefacts in its collection and continues to add new acquisitions through donations. Artefacts include clothing, equipment, trophies, medals, programs, and much more.
In 2017, we completed the renovations of our collections facility! The sizable collection expansion, including an inventory of over 15,000 artefacts in our collection was a massive addition.
We have successfully inventoried all the items, carefully packed the artefacts, moved them to a temporary home for a few months off-site, moved them all back into the museum, carefully unpacked all the artefacts, and found them a new location in the upgraded collections room. While we will still have work to do to finish some of the smaller side projects, we are happy to have all 15,000+ artefacts back in their rightful home.
None of this would be possible without the financial support from Canadian Economic Diversification Fund through the federal government and the Community Facility Enhancement Program through the provincial government. We received additional funding from the Alberta Museums Association. We are so grateful for the continued support of these organizations, whose assistance has allowed this long-awaited project to come to fruition. We greatly appreciate all the financial contributions individuals have made to the project over the past year.

The Alberta Sports Hall of Fame would like to extend a sincere thank you to the Alberta Museums Association for their continued support in funding our ongoing Collections projects, Collections Deaccessioning and Adpative Sports Gallery. These funds have continued the growth of the Collection and Exhibits.
