Honoured Member Hayley Wickenheiser to be Inducted into Canada's Sports Hall of Fame

Honoured Member Hayley Wickenheiser will be inducted into Canada's Sports Hall of Fame as part of their induction class of 2022.



Hayley Wickenheiser was chosen for the Canadian Women’s National Team in 1994 at the age of fifteen. She led the team to five gold medals at the Women’s World Hockey Championships, a silver medal at the 1998 Winter Olympics at Nagano, and a gold medal at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City. She was named the Most Valuable Player at numerous Esso Women’s Hockey Championships and a First Team All-Star in four of her World Championship appearances. On January 11, 2003, Hayley made history as the first female hockey player to score a point in a men’s professional hockey game. She was inducted into the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame as a Hockey Athlete in 2004.
